My maternal great grandmother was a Hampton. She lived in Montreal, so I'm almost 100% sure we're not of the Civil War Hampton family. I do love genealogy!!

Hi Betty it is amazing what you can find on the internet. I found a picture of my great-grandfather and sent it to my uncle. He didn't have any picture of him. They were lost.
Hi Jeanne and Ju, Welcome I hope I can keep you entertained with my crazy ideas and life.
Hi Toll House Cookie, you never know. The Hamptons were a traveling adventurous bunch.

That's kind of cool to be related to someone on Wikipedia - even if they were not very "civil" :)

Hi Sarah I also found out a Great Great Great Grandfather was a hero in the Battle of San Jacinto that won Texas it independence, and my great grandmother was a full blood Cherekee Indian, and lot of other stuff. Now I wish I would have listen closer to the stories all my older relatives use to tell.
Hi Rhonda, I knew the old General had arrived when one day he arrived on wiki.
Hi Bz, Welcome to my part of the world.
Hi Stephanie, I have been looking for a picture for ever for him and another relative now I found both of them its great.
