I is for Ice Cream....




   On my recipe blog Grandmom's Recipes. Today I have a Ice cream recipe. So to go along with the Ice Cream theme and the fact that the high temprature is suppose to be 88°. So did I just sleep through spring and wake up in summer????   But I digress...What I was going to say is, it seems like the perfect time to share a time line of the History of Ice Cream.

The History of Ice Cream

1000 B.C. The Emperors of China enjoy snow ice cream.

62 A.D.   Roman Emperor Nero sends slaves to get snow for his
                ice cream.
  
1295      Marco Polo gives Italy a new snow ice cream.

1533      Catherine de Medici takes ice cream to France.


1600      Charles I takes a recipe for ice cream to England.

1700      Governor Bladen of Maryland, who was from England, 
                served ice cream at his home in the colonies.

1776      First ice cream palor in America opens in New York City.

1812      Dolly Madison served ice cream to White House Guests.

1843      Nancy Johnston invents the hand cranked ice cream freezer.

1903      Italo Marchinony invents the ice cream cone.

1904      Ernest Hamwi makes waffle cones at the St.Louis World Fair.

1919      Christian Kent Nelson invents the "I-Scream Bar". Mrs. Stover
               wife of Russell Stover the local chocolate producer suggested 
               the name "Eskimo Pie"

1922      The Good Humor Bar is invented. It was the first Ice Cream Bar 
               on a stick. It was originally known as
               "Good Humor Ice Cream Suckers"

1946      The first Baskin-Robbins ice cream store opens in California.

1983      Cookies 'N Cream is invented.
