This pass Thursday 3 very big and very nice guys came over and in less than 2 hours we had this....
Okay we already had the dog. |
Bud cut that by hand isn't he good. |
Okay the flash washed me out. I swear I'm not a ghost. I think... |
I had to take this last picture for history...
Our first of many fires. |
Our first night with the wood stove burning the temperature outside was 24 degrees Fahrenheit, but the temperature in the bedroom didn't get below 50 degrees.
That was great for us. I am sure the house will heat up a lot more when we finally get the walls, and ceiling in.
I would like to thank Clayton, Bud and Chris of American Chimney Cleaning in Houston Texas for the outstanding job they did and for helping us out with the best price. If any of you need removal, installation or just cleaning and repair for a fireplace or stove, give them a call. I'm not sure how far out of Houston they go so you guys outside of Texas and the United States might be out of luck.
Oh and remember this tree (check out what happened here)...
It had just better watch out, we have a chainsaw and a wood stove and know how to use them.
Oh wow. I can now shop for a whole
new set of things for the house....

Hey Bruce you go transparent and I go white, okay may be we are ghost and just don't know it yet. I got to try that walking through walls thing.
Lovely woodstove! I don't think I could have gone without heat. I have my space heater sitting next to me even as I type running on high.
That tree causes any more trouble, it's toast! (Literally.)
Nothing like a wood fire! Enjoy.
Almost makes me want to make the one-mile trek to our old house and fire up the stove.
But not quite. I'm not missing the mess that is wood, or the hauling-in of wood. But I could use a bit of that gets-everywhere, full wood heat.
There's nothing like a wood stove! I miss having one. Glad you're warm enough to write now.
Pj lovely lovely lovely. There's something about a wood stove, such character and such all-over comfort in a home. Love the way you can keep the kettle to the side and the soup bubbling, then spear some bread for some nice smoky toast when it's just about out. I no longer have one of course, but I grew up with one and had one myself for a long time. It provided our hot water too but a bit hot in summer!
Hope you're well and thawing out now!
Denise :)
We love our soapstone stove so much, it keeps the whole house warm and provides atmosphere during the brutal cold months.
You can't help but love them, you won't ever regret it.
Congratulations on the wood stove...ahhhhhh, the aroma, the crackle...and THE WARMTH!! You are a pioneer woman! Thank God that tree did not fall on your house! That is a bit close for comfort! Glad you can be cozy and toasty...
