This time of year I always seem to get melancholy. Maybe it is because the hustle and bustle of the Holidays are over. Maybe it is because a new year has started and we tend to stop and take stock of what we got out of the previous year and what we want out of the new year. What ever the reason, I think a lot more about friends and family that are no longer around and wish I could talk to them.
As we get older, we tend to realize how important our friends and family are to us. Unfortunately a lot of the time we remember them, when it is too late.
This year why not pull out your old address book and take the time to call an old friend to talk, or visit that Aunt or Cousin you haven't seen in a while. If you reconnect with one person every month, that's 12 people ... once a week ... that's 52. Why not spend a few minutes and connect with your pass .
I am notorious about thinking of people and never getting around to contacting them. My ESP just doesn't seem to work, or if it does it only works one way and I don't get a reply.
If you are one of my many friends or family, I haven't forgotten about you, I just seem to have forgotten how to pick up the phone and dial.
This song reminds me that you never know when it will be too late...
(Hankie alert ... this is a tear jerker, get out the tissue now...)
My life is anything but normal. Then who's is. To get through this life I try to see the funny side of things. This is not a political commentary. My cardiologist says I need to avoid stress. Beside dealing with the government has taught me to curse like a sailor, and I'm trying to clean up my act. Oh if your trying to practice for the spelling bee, don't count on my help, I'm a horrible speller. THANK GOD for spell check. Now, if I would remember to use it.

Yes, as I've gotten older I wonder why I didn't spend more time talking to my grandmother. I was always too busy but she helped me in ways that I never properly thanked her for.
Now that's a wonderful sentiment. I'll do that!
Oh Oh OH. I am going to call my mom today. She thanks you very much.
Laura, Yes we always seem to be too busy. But we regreat not making the time later. I miss my Granddad, Grandmom, and Mother. They were always there for me. They would have loved to see me writing.
Alex, Great, you will enjoy it.
Betty, Your mom is very welcome very much.
Mike (is that Mike?) has a great voice. Love it.
Hi Katie, Yes it is Mike. You might have recognized him from Genesis with Phil Colons.
Beautiful reminder Pam! Hope you make your 52 connections! The song is an old favourite and it was lovely to be reminded of its truth today. Thanks!
PJ I love that song! What a lovely post. Yes, we should value our friends and family as none of us knows how long they, or we, will be around. Looking forward to your friendship in 2011!

Lovely song.
Thanks for the reminder PJ. Wishing you the very best for 2011.
Love that song, btw. A fantastic sentiment...and an inspiring one. I can remember my grandmother sitting down once a week and writing out cards to people-for their birthdays, if they were sick, if a death had occurred....I want to do that. Send out some Just Because letters/cards. Thanks for a nudge in the mental behind!!!
Nice to be back around. Great post.
You have an award waiting at my blog for you.

Oh, my gosh. My dad used to play that song all. the. time. when I was a kid...
Hi Pamela Jo, we must be on the same wave length. I always pull out my address book and reconnect to friends I have not talked to or seen in the past year. I really enjoyed your post.
I like the song in the video....would you please do me a favor? How do I post videos like you did? Would you please email me at donnab6464@google.com and explain how to do it?
Thank you so much!
Thank you all for the comments. I have always loved this song.
Denise, No we never know how long we have and I don't think I want to know on myself.
Lori, With facebook I am well on the way to reconnecting with all our school friends. Isn't it great.
Grandpa, I am wishing you a happy 2011 as well.
WC, I remember my Grandmother doing the same thing. I think it is a lost art that should be revived.
Jodi, THANK YOU very much on my way over.
Brooke, A good song never goes out of style does it.

Hi Bruce nice 2 see you.... hee hee hee.
Hey Bruce Thank you for being my 50th follower. I will now do a happy dance while tripping over the dogs.
I am so glad I am not alone. I too often think of people, but don't connect. And if they do, and I say "I was thinking of you" it sounds so phoney.
And congratulations on your nephew's success.
Thank you very much Rayna. I know what you mean by saying I was just thinking about you, there is no way to show you really where.
