Christmas Countdown...

I know, I know it isn't even Thanksgiving yet.  How can I be thinking of Christmas.  Well you see,  I have decided to add more stress to my life.  How?  Well if you look over to the right, you will see a Christmas countdown.

How will this add stress to my life?  Well since we are on such a fixed budget, we make all our Christmas gifts... or rather I crochet all our Christmas gifts.  I haven't taught Jack how yet.  But he does help me design and figure out colors.

This countdown reminds me exactly how soon I have to have all the gloves, scarfs, hats, afghans, house shoes, washcloths, potholder and Christmas ornaments done.  Oh and design and draw a Christmas greeting to email to everyone.
I am hoping the countdown will also remind me to pick up the hook and get busy.  Then I wont be crocheting 20 hours a day the last week before Christmas.

   Hey I can dream can't I....

Okay, I have at 3 people down and only 12 or so more to go.  Now where did I put that pattern for the Santa Potholder...

Hi PJ, it's never too early to start, but don't let it stress you too much.
Happy crochetting

I'm making gifts this year too (baking goods in pretty containers with lots of ribbons and home made gift tags). Even my daughter is making a present for her grandparents!

Thanks for the reminder. I've gotten so that I don't have many ideas for gifts, and money is tight right now ... but treats always go over well. Maybe it's time to start putting some together after all.

Hi Grandpa, I do like to crochet but I usually wind up waiting to the last minute for the gifts. Then have to rush till my hand cramps up.
Hi CBG, Yes baked goods are always welcomed. That reminds me I have a really good recipe for Pumpkin-Cranberry mini-loafs that makes great gifts. IF they last long enough to give. I have got to pull that out.
Hi Katie, Hee Hee you can't put a label on you...even the name changes. Love that. Yes treats are always welcomed. Hint hint.
Hi Al, I feel your pain. Maybe they can imagine they got everything they wanted and more. I am sure they will be thrilled with what every they get, after all it will come from you and Deb.
Hi Laura, I use to be one of those last minute shoppers. But now I am a last minute gift maker. Can't afford to shop anymore. At least not all at once.

Hmmmmm, I'm wondering if you need to check into a clinic? I have no idea how you're going to get all of that done. But, I know the recipients are going to absolutely love the gifts.

I love the idea of a hand-made gift. I think in so many ways, it's lost its meaning and gotten too commercial and people go into debt just for Christmas!

On my side, we didn't do any gifts last year. We just got together and fellowshipped and played games. This year, we're doing pet gifts and gifts for my niece.

On Honey's side, I hope we can do the same-our nephew and his impending sister.

Good luck! (My mom crocheted and tried to teach me. All I can manage is the most basic chain stitch!)

Actually I DO have a Dr's appointment next week. Should I worry??? I learned to crochet in my teens. I also learned to knit but I can't remember how. I might need to relearn that.
Crochet keeps my hands busy when I watch movies so I don't eat everything in the kitchen.
It sounds like you have the right idea, friends, family and good food. Enjoy yourselves.

Homemade gifts are the true spirit of Christmas. I can crochet but can't design patterns and REALLY admire those who can. Pamelo Jo, you're the golden crochet standard! I wish you luck with your Christmas countdown. Have faith you'll make it!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Hi Kittie, I did the same with my sewing. If I couldn't find what I wanted, I would piece together parts of other patterns. It takes longer to make the items than just following a pattern but I know it is one of a kind.
